I know the feeling, I've been there. I've worked the 80 hour weeks, spent more time in front of the computer then doing physical activity, faced the heart challenges brought on by stress, lived the sedentary lifestyle, ached my way through knee and joint pain, and the list goes on...
For me it felt a lot
like drowning. My list of questions and concerns seemed
endless with few solutions that weren't full of hot air and hype.
Perhaps you've experienced a similar feeling.

The answer to your breakthrough might not be as far away as you might think. Perhaps, like me, the secret lies within your reach.
The Secret to Success
I found the Secret to Success did not lie in some newfangled tactic or in the latest and greatest new product, but rather in how I was approaching the solution I currently used.
If you're anything like me, you tend to take on too much, striving too high and running too fast, in an attempt to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way to achieving the health, happy life of your dreams.
I sought control but I
instead found exhaustion and overwhelm.
This scenario seemed especially valid for some of the more resistant and sticky health related challenges I faced...challenges such as stress brought on by the state of my checkbook, or the site of the scale tipping the wrong way even after dieting for months.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, perhaps it's time to stop and take a look at why this might be happening. I mean really STOP, take a step back, a timeout from hurling one possible solution after another against the wall, all the while hiding behind the happy hope that something, anything will stick?
Here's what I did. I pushed and I pulled. I struggled and I battled. I wrestled with my dragons and called them by name. I ran after one alchemical pill after the next until I finally called a stop to the insanity, too tired to continue for even one more step.
FINALLY, by stopping the struggle, by resisting the urge to push things any further, I was able to find enough white space around me to begin seeing with new eyes and hearing with new ears. I began to resonate with the concept of Kaizen, achieving "continuous improvement" through taking small baby steps.
This was a leap of faith for me (a small baby step leap of faith, of course) since I was the poster child for the typical "Rabbit Girl." I was even born in the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.
The Tortoise and the Hare
If you remember the story of
the race between the tortoise and the hare, the hare sprints
off for the finish line while the tortoise steadily
plods along. The hare soon gets distracted,
being waylaid by his desire for a nap. As he rests,
the tortoise slowly passes by to win the race.
Sound familiar? It was to me.
Perhaps it was time for a new approach. Perhaps it was time for the way of the turtle (tortoise), or framed in different words, the way of Kaizen.
Instead of aspiring
towards huge lofty goals that caused me to slip
into overwhelm more often then not I started chunking
my goals down into small bite sized pieces. I started finding
mentors to support me and hold me accountable. I started working with
the cycles of my life patterns rather than against them.
It was then that the magic really started to happen. I began to reweave both the tortoise and the hare, to have wins, which in turn nurtured and encouraged me to move on to somewhat larger steps, framing even bigger goals and accomplishing some much larger wins. But in the beginning, it all started with just one baby step.
One of the most important pieces to this idea of "continuous improvement" is the concept of accountability, of partnering with someone who will support you on your journey. Such a support structure is invaluable as we move forward with creating, molding and aligning our step by step adventures into a model that works for us, one that resonates and harmonizes with our stated goals.
